Former assistant manager and manager Billy Ayre has died. Billy was Frank Burrows assistant in the 1998-1999 season when the pair mastermined Cardiffs promotion with a budget of zero. Billy was an old school manager and quite a tough manager in some ways, but the stories coming out of Ninian Parl always said that his fairness and motivation made him a favourite with the players. I express my condolences to Billys family, to the Bury players and management who worked with him, and to the Cardiff City players who worked with him.
